Abstract: Classical three-dimensional potential theory primarily addresses harmonic scalar and vector fields. However, for many physical applications, the mathematical representation of fields through source distributions lacks sufficient uniqueness. A prominent example is the identical exterior potential generated by both a hollow spherical shell and a solid sphere, or the simplification of the Earth's magnetic field as a central dipole.
